This concept store was a proposal for the redevelopment of The Arts Bar Bournemouth. The project was to use the existing building and revamp it into a retail outlet.

My focus was to create a store where the general public would not only be able to acquire a tattoo or piercing, but actually design it with a professional consultant, visualise it on their body, and also learn about the historic methods and meanings behind the origins of the tattoo and scarification.

The main concept to draw in the public was the tattooed manikins being visually merchandised in the store front. The tattoos would be projected onto these manikins and constantly changing. Downstairs consists of the reception where appointments would be booked, consultancy rooms, tattoo/piercing rooms and toilets. The customer would speak to a consultant and design their tattoo/piercing on the ceramic manikin using pens, once happy, convert it into digital format and project it onto the manikin, then book another appointment for the actual tattoo/piercing procedure.

Upstairs consists of a bar, exhibition and seating area. This are was made in order for customers to relax whilst waiting for their specific appointments. The central exhibition wall piece displays the historical context and origin of the tattoo and piercing art. This area also consists of staff space, storage, a toilet and a lift.
